| Description: | I was nearly thirty years old when I first encountered Louis. The good-natured way he tolerated my nervous suggestions for photos was typical of how obliging he would be at other times through the years. Backstage at New York's Roxy Theatre in 1950, he was relaxing between sets on a day bed, his hair protected by a white cloth. I visualized him warming up as he reclined, and asked him to pose that way. |
