| Description: | As was my habit, I took photos from the audience and also backstage when I could, trying to anticipate when an act was near the end of its set, so I could catch the performers as they came off. I hit the dressing room about the same time that Elvin did. Fresh from one of his demanding performances, he was drenched with sweat, and reached for a towel. Somehow I knew that the beads of perspiration were going to make my picture, and I called out `Hold off on the towel, please, Elvin. "It was heartless of me, and I have to admire his patience, but I got the picture.
After developing and printing this one, I was struck by what appeared to be his hostile expression. Actually, he was the soul of accommodation, and l believe that it was merely a sense of longing for the towel and a refreshing glass of water that produced this result. Thank you, Elvin I owe you one! |
